Please join us for PLIDA’s International Perinatal Bereavement Conference!
2016 marks the 20th International Perinatal Bereavement Conference, a time for a multidisciplinary group of professionals to come together to gain knowledge from leaders in our field, network and learn from each other. Conferences are held biannually and are planned in locations across the United States. Learning opportunities include plenary sessions from leading experts, a wide range of concurrent sessions as well as half-day pre-conference sessions that provide opportunities for additional learning and skill building. Extended break times allow for conversations started in sessions to continue informally and to facilitate networking with your peers. Continuing education credits are offered for the fields of medicine, nursing, social work, genetic counseling, chaplaincy and more.
The conference has evolved over the years, reflecting the development of our field. Presentations are backed by peer-reviewed research, are taught by leaders and reflect best practice. Those who are new to the profession as well as those who have been doing this work for decades can all come away with practical tools and new ways of thinking about their work. The conference time includes opportunities to learn and network as well as time for self-care and reflection. Exhibits and poster sessions provide additional learning and networking venues. This conference will appeal to any professional who provides care to families experiencing a perinatal death or who engages in research in the field including obstetricians, maternal fetal medicine physicians, neonatologists, palliative care physicians, advanced practice nurses, midwives, physician assistants, nurses, social workers, genetic counselors, ultrasonographers, chaplains, funeral directors, childlife specialists, lactation consultants, psychologists, childbirth educators, policy makers, program administrators, researchers, professors, and parent advocates, among many others. In addition, bereaved parents, themselves, participate in the conference in the role of parent advocates who may work in advocacy, lay support and who may hold a dual role as both patient and researcher or practitioner.
Conference planners choose locations that offer attendees and accompanying family members the opportunity to have a vacation experience and take “time away” while keeping within budget constraints with reasonable airfare and room rates in mind. It is our hope that you’ll return energized both professionally and personally.
